Imperial Receives Friends of Education Award

LCSD presents Imperial Oil with Friends of Education Award Sunday evening

The Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) presented the 2016 Friends of Education Award to Imperial’s Cold Lake Operations at the Fall General Meeting Awards Banquet. Lakeland Catholic School District nominated Imperial for the award which recognizes organizations in the community who have made a significant contribution to education in Alberta.
“We are honoured to receive this award,” said Darlene Gates, Imperial Cold Lake & Conventional Asset Manager. “We believe community investments and volunteering are essential to building strong and healthy communities . Our various partnerships with Lakeland Catholic School District have resulted in positive outcomes, such as allowing students to begin exploring career pathways while still in high school, leading to more informed decision making.”
Imperial is truly a partner in education with Lakeland Catholic School District. The Cold Lake Operations is located centrally to the two largest centres that the District serves, which are Cold Lake and Bonnyville. Over the past several years, Imperial has supported many of Lakeland Catholic School District’s initiatives in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The support received includes financial contributions, in-kind donations and employee volunteer work.

Lakeland Catholic School District’s Superintendent/CEO Joe Arruda said, “The District is extremely grateful for its partnership with Imperial as it continues to have a tremendously positive impact on our students’ learning and achievement.”  The Alberta School Boards Association Awards Banquet was held at the Westin Hotel in Edmonton on Sunday, November 20th.
