Elk Point Ready for Growth
Phase I of Centennial Subdivision Complete
The Town of Elk Point is excited with news that Phase I of the Centennial Subdivision is now complete. There are some new builds ready for people to purchase, as well as many lots available if you are looking to build, says Councillor for the Town of Elk Point, Lorne Young.
“Phase I is now done, and Phase II is almost complete.” There’s a few items that need to be completed before building can begin at Phase II, says the Councillor, including gas hook up; which will be late winter or early spring.
The Town is excited to offer more options for people planning to move into the community, or even residents looking for new homes. “The biggest reason we went ahead with the residential subdivision was at the time we didn’t have any lots left to sell. We didn’t want that to be the reason why people weren’t developing [in Elk Point.]”
The Councillor explains the Centennial Subdivision started years ago with the creation of Centennial Drive. The additional street then spawned a subdivision on the north end of the community. “It accomplished two things, we have lots available for people to develop, when people are ready. And we were able to connect 60th avenue to Centennial Drive, so now there’s a road for people to drive through.”
“We are hopeful,” Councillor Young says the Town is looking towards the future growth of the community.
