Bonnyville Peewee Renegades will host Wainwright on Sunday

Head Coach of the Bonnyville Peewee Renegades, Kevin Sartain set out to bring the League Championships to Bonnyville and that’s exactly what he intends to do. “I set these goals four years ago and that’s what I’m going to do. First we’re going to win the League finals – on home turf and then we’ll bring home the Provincial Championship.” The coach is beaming with confidence, after an undefeated regular season, he’s looking forward to Sunday’s match against Wainwright.

The match will be the semi-finals, with the winner advancing to the league finals the following week. Coach Sartain is fairly sure his team has what it takes to move on, this past weekend the Renegades took the Lloydminister Colts, 63-12.

Coach Sartain says it was a team effort to bring home the win; but there was one player who really stood out in his mind. “Titus Fagnan. If I was going to name one player for the [Lloyd] game, it was Titus; he was unreal. He made 15 tackles and two touchdowns; we put him in as QB and he made a passing touchdown, that was unreal. Of the four years he’s played with me, that was absolutely the best game he’s ever had.” #32 Titus Fagnan will move on to Bantams next year.

Another player who shone was Levi Nelson, says the coach, “he stood out and figured it out. He’s peaking at the right time.” With the semi-finals just days away it is definitely the right time for the squad to peak, says the coach.

One benefit (if he had to find one) to the older clubs being out of their playoff runs is that Sartain will have the whole field to himself for Renegades practice this week. “I’ll have three practices, this week. I’ll have the whole field and we’re going to get a lot done.”

We’re going to win another championship – this time in Bonnyville – then off to Provincials. That’s my goal. Day 1 four years ago, that’s been my goal. – Kevin Sartain Head Coach Bonnyville Renegades
