Classic Pub Fare at the Neighborhood Inn

Neighborhood Inn Bonnyville

We had a chance to stop by the Neighborhood Inn Crown and Derby Lounge for Wing Night. There was quite a few people there, probably close to ¾ full. The atmosphere was fitting for the name, definitely an old pub feel to the place. Our server was quick to bring drinks and when asked how the wings were prepared (needing to know about the gluten-free thing), she went and asked the chef. I was disappointed when she came back with the news that the wings did have a coating on them, however, the chef offered to make a fresh batch with no coating just for me! That was great. I was very impressed that they would go the extra mile for me.

Most people think that the gluten free thing is a fad and a pain in the neck; however, I have been diagnosed celiac for 16 years and believe me, you don’t want to see what happens when I get gluten. The Inn’s deep fryer is not gluten free however, so I was taking a bit of a chance. Most places keep a pretty clean deep fryer and I was assured that they would screen the deep fryer before doing my wings.

My wings came out deliciously golden with a side of ranch dressing. Jan ordered the platter as we had a friend join us. Between the two of them, they were not able to finish that platter off! It was huge. I found my wings tasty and tender. The platter had pub chips, and dry garlic ribs as well as wings. A perfect plate for a get-together with friends. The food was classic pub fare in a classic pub. That’s of course, what we came for and that’s exactly what we got! We will be back again for the incredible service and yummy food.
