Boser Defends United MMA Heavyweight Title

The Bulldozer successfully defends heavyweight title with win over Joe Yager

On September 30th, Tanner “The Bulldozer” Boser put it all out on the mat and defended his title United MMA Heavyweight title against Joe Yaser. Days after the match, the 25 year old, 257 lbs, Boser says he’s ready for the big time – the UFC.

With an 11-2 record and the championship belt around his waist, Boser is hopeful that the UFC will take notice. Considering Boser took on and defeated Joe Yaser, it’s likely he’s getting noticed. “Joe’s is a really tough guy, he’s a division one wrestler from the States. He’s fought a lot of really good guys and I knew he was going to be difficult, because he’s such a good wrestler.” Boser played off Yaser take downs for most of the fight, “I was able to keep him standing and out battle him with strikes.”

Wrestling is one element of training to be a mixed martial arts fighter, “I trained wrestling now, for MMA, I didn’t come from a wrestling background,” Boser trains at Hayabusa Training Centre in St. Albert; one of Canada’s premiere MMA training facilities. To keep it well rounded in the ring, Boser also trains at Frank Lee’s Muay Thai in Edmonton and Snake Pit Wrestling in Sherwood Park.

As a kid he trained in Bonnyville. “I did karate growing up, it was a natural transition from karate to MMA,” it definitely helps that Boser’s mother, Linda Boser always encouraged living a fit lifestyle. Linda Boser owns the popular Hi-Energy Fitness and MMA studio; however, the studio was not open in Tanner’s younger years. It wasn’t until after high school that he got into MMA, “I didn’t take my first fight until I was 21.” The Bulldozer is known to pop by his mom’s studio, “sometimes when I’m in town, I’ll go and help out if they need someone to teach a class that day.”

Boser will continue is training and wait for the call from his manager on when and where the next fight will be… and who that match will be against. “You have to have a good record, you have to be coming off wins; there’s a lot that goes into it,” Boser says with those elements in tack he’s very optimistic about the UFC.
