Chad Hurtubise Traded
Pontiacs Trade 20 year old Hurtubise to Drumheller for Many Guns
The Bonnyville Jr A Pontiacs have traded 20 year old Chad Hurtubise to Drumheller in exchange for 18 year old Trygve Many Guns. In an email shared with Lakeland Connect, Head Coach Rick Swan described the trade as, “very emotional.”
Swan explains the Pontiacs had a “20 year old situation,” where the squad had too many 20 year olds and needed to make a move. Coach Swan says the club “moved Chad Hurtubise to the Drumheller Dragons where they are looking to put him in a leadership role to enhance their culture and give him a quality situation to play in more key situations.” Swan said the move took many factors into consideration, including ensuring his former player was taken care of at his new home.
Chad is an outstanding human and has done nothing less than make our organization better both on and off the ice. He made it fun for me as a coach to go to the rink everyday and was an exceptional mentor for our young players. I love the kid and wish him the very best in a great situation that he’ll be getting in Drumheller. For Chad, ‘once a Pontiac…always a Pontiac.’ I also want to thank the Hurtubise family who are Cadillac people for their support of Chad and the organization over the past two years. – Rick Swan Head Coach Bonnyville Jr A Pontiacs
Coming to the Pontiacs is 18 year old forward Trygve Many Guns. 6’5″ and 235 lbs. Tryge was a member of the AMHL champion UFA Bisons in ’14/15 and played 37 games for Drumheller as a 16 year old last season. “Trygve is a character kid who is great in the dressing room and is described as a body body with great hands and a pro shot and is a great teammate.”
“We welcome Trygve to the Pontiacs and once again wish Chad the success he deserves and is seeking.” Many Guns is expected to dress with the team for Tuesday when they take on the Fort McMurray Oil Barons at the RJ Lalonde arena, game time 7:30 pm.
