Pontiacs win 3-1 on home ice over rivals Bobcats

New to the bench, Neil Langridge lead the squad to victory at Wednesday’s game versus the Lloydminster Bobcats. “This is my first year coming from a scouting role to an assistant coach role,” Langridge says Head Coach Rick Swan asked him to take charge for the first exhibition game of the season. With four Jr B Championship  under his belt (Cold Lake Ice), Landridge is no stranger to success, “tonight we had our biggest rivals, the Lloydminister Bobcats, in an all rookies match.”

Langridge being the rookie coach for the Yaks made a natural fit with the rest of the fresh faced guys. Both teams dressed only their rookies, “I think we came out a little bit nervous in the first. But they came in the second and third and really answered the bell.” Langridge gave props to all the young players and noted that the goaltending is promising to be great.

Langridge says the move to the Pontiacs is a “huge step up from anything I’ve done. [I’m honoured] to be working for the last two years with Rick Swan and Larry Draper, two guys that constantly seem to impress the Bonnyville Pontiac fans with the quality of play. I think everybody this year, in the organization, has high expectations and it’s with good cause.”
