RCMP say Education is the Best Defense

The Bonnyville RCMP would like to remind the public of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Scam that continues to plague innocent victims.  If you get a call from the CRA and aren’t sure it’s legitimate, get a contact name then call them back at the phone number listed on their website.

The RCMP would also like to reiterate that the CRA do NOT send police to arrest people and the do NOT issue Arrest Warrants.  They also do NOT request payment in the form of iTunes gift cards or any other type of gift card.

If you receive a call of this nature, or any call you believe to be a fraud, contact your local RCMP Detachment. Try to get as much information as possible from the fraudsters, phone number and details on how they attempted to lure you. You can also visit the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online.
