New Electronic Sign for Walsh Field

Plans to install the sign in time for the Scott MacDonald Memorial

There will be a new scoreboard installed in time for the Scott MacDonald Memorial Football Game, says Bonnyville Amateur Football Association representative, Dan Jubinville. Jubinville says the association was waiting for the approval of the Town to install the board, and once approved he didn’t see any issues with having it install for the event, which will be held on September 17th.

Due to the size of the electronic sign, the Town referred the project out to the adjacent property owners. No concerns came forward in regards to lighting or size of the sign, or otherwise, confirmed town Planning & Development Kathrine Currie at the August 23rd Council meeting.

One concern did come forward from Councillor Ray Prevost, “I’m happy they’re putting up the sign, but in that corner, it obstructs the view of the residents of the lodge, who watch football. It’s right in line with the view from Bonnylodge.” Councillor Prevost asked for dimensions of the sign, which were recorded as 24 feet horizontally x 8 feet wide x 22 high. The sign is 10 feet off the ground.  Currie confirmed that Bonnylodge residents would have received a letter in regards to the development and no complaints had been made at the time of the meeting. The reasoning as to placement of the sign was not given.

With the concerns in mind, Town Council approved the project at the Council meeting.
