Youth Arrested after Shooting in Frog Lake

On August 8th, 2016 at 9:45 p.m the Elk Point RCMP received a report of male who was shot with a shotgun on Frog Lake First Nation.  Elk Point RCMP responded and determined that a 34 year old male was driving a side by side ATV through a residential property when his dog got into an altercation with two of the property owner’s dogs.  The 34 year old then pulled a sword from his ATV to defend his dog when a 17 year old youth appeared and shot him in the leg with a shotgun.

The victim left the property and was later treated by EMS and then air lifted to The University of Alberta Hospital in stable condition.  The injures sustained were severe but non-life threatening.

The youth, who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and will be answering to charges in St Paul Provincial Court on September 1, 2016.
