RCMP Release Sketch of Suspected Child Abductor

Following the attempted abduction of a 14 yr old girl in Bonnyville on July 14th, we would like to release the attached sketch which depicts the suspect in question.  You may recall that this suspect was observed in a back alley near 46 avenue and 49 street standing near a red Ford Windstar type mini-van.  He had attempted to grab and take a 14 yr old female who resisted and managed to escape.

BACKGROUND

On July 14th at approximately 10:30 pm, Bonnyville Detachment received a report of a possible abduction attempt on a 14 year old female in a back lane of Bonnyville, near 46 avenue and 47 street.  A 50 something year old Caucasian male with grey hair, wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, and tall black boots allegedly grabbed the girl and tried to force her into his red minivan.  The van was described as an older model Ford Windstar type vehicle.  The victim fought with the suspect, fled from the scene and made it to her residence unharmed a short distance away.  Patrols were made immediately following the occurrence but the suspect was not located.

 

“These types of occurrences concern us all.  In this case the young person did exactly what she should have by resisting the suspect and fleeing to a nearby residence.  We’re taking this complaint very seriously and investigating all avenues possible.  Anyone with information on a red minivan resembling a Ford Windstar that is being driven by a male matching the description is asked to phone Bonnyville RCMP at 780-826-3358, Cst.
