Man Caught Driving while over 3 Times the Legal Limit

On July 16th, at 1:00 am, the Cold Lake RCMP were conducting a checkstop, in the south, when a vehicle rolled up where the driver was noticeably drunk. S/Sgt Jeremie Landry says it was another case of an extremely intoxicated person driving.

“The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment,” S/Sgt Landry explains the driver, a 20 year old male, from Cold Lake, provided breath samples over three times the legal limit, “nearly three and a half times the legal limit.”

The man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle while over the legal limit. Further the vehicle was seized and the driver was issued tickets for failing to to produce his operator licence and having open liquor within reach of occupant.

The man will appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on August 24th at 10:00 am.
