Arrests Made in Cold Lake Robbery Cases

Cold Lake RCMP have arrested and charged a 14 year old male youth from Hayter, Alberta, in connection with all three robbery incidents.  The following charges have been laid: robbery x 2, assault with a weapon x 3, and possession of a weapon x 3.  The 14 year old male who cannot be named as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been remanded into custody and will be appearing at Lac La Biche Youth Justice Court on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 10:00 a.m to face Cold Lake and Lac La Biche charges.

Cold Lake RCMP are appealing to the public for any information on the identity of the male youth wearing the red t-shirt in the attached photographs.

BACKGROUND

On Friday, July 8, 2016, between 9:10 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Cold Lake RCMP were dispatched to 3 Liquor Store robberies within a 20 minute period.  Cold Lake RCMP responded to robberies at Best Spirits Wine & Liquor Shoppe, Sobey’s Liquor on 51st Street and PJ’s Liquor Store.  In all three cases liquor store staff were bear sprayed.  At two of the locations alcohol was also stolen.  Both suspects are described as aboriginal males and under the age of 16 years old.  One suspect was wearing a red shirt with letters across the front, light coloured shorts, a black ball cap with a white brim and a white symbol on the front.  The 2nd suspect was wearing a white or grey coloured t-shirt.  RCMP are also searching for an older model Green GMC truck that was involved in the robberies.
