On May 23rd, 2016 at approximately 1:00 AM, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment received a 911 hold up alarm at the Bonnyville Best Western.  Officers arrived on scene and found a woman in the lobby holding a towel to her head with extensive bruising and lacerations to her face and head.

Through investigation it was learned that the females got into an argument while drinking in a hotel room.  This argument escalated and moved out to the hall where surveillance shows a 31 year old female hitting a 39 year old female multiple times in the face and at one point the 31 year old female throws the 39 year old female on the ground and gets on top of her to continue striking her. The 31 year old female leaves briefly and comes back to strike the 39 year old female multiple times in the face knocking her down.

The 39 year old female was taken by stretcher to the hospital for her injuries.  The 31 year old female was located and arrested by police and lodged into Bonnyville RCMP Detachment cells.  The 31 year old was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and was put before a Justice of the Peace who released her to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on June 20th, 2016 with court compelling conditions.  The 31 year old is known to the police with a history of previous assault conditions.

No names have been released by the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment at this time.
