Bonnyville RCMP Charge Female Found Passed Out at the Wheel

On May 29th, 2016 at approximately 11:00 AM, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment received two 911 calls for service regarding a possible impaired driver crossing the centerline on Hwy 55 and driving at a high rate of speed.  Police attended the area and located the suspect vehicle now parked on the wrong side of the street in front of a business in La Corey, Alberta.

Police approached the vehicle observed a female passed out sleeping in the driver’s seat with the vehicle still in gear.  After safely putting the vehicle in park, turning off the engine and removing the keys, police were finally able to wake the female after shaking her several times.  The female, who had a heavy odour of liquor on her breath, was advised that she was under arrest for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and was demanded to provide a sample of her breath.  The female was very aggressive and yelling at the officers and advised that she would not provide a breath sample.

The female was subsequently transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment where she was later released on court compelling documents for charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample, and Dangerous Driving along with a drivers licence suspension. The name of the accused has not been released at this time.

The Bonnyville RCMP would like to remind the public that if they have any information they believe is related to a crime to contact the Bonnyville RCMP at 780-343-7200/780-826-3358 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
