MD Fire Ban Still in Effect
FIRE BAN FOR:
MD of Bonnyville No. 87
Description:
A fire ban is in effect The Municipal District of Bonnyville No.87. The fire ban also applies to parks and recreation areas. The fire ban does not apply to cities, towns, villages, summer villages, or federal lands within the Municipality.
NOTE: The Provincial Fire Ban and Forest Closure Order that covers the Ft. McMurray and Lac La Biche Forest Areas include the northern half of the Municipal District of Bonnyville which is Fire Control Zone (FCZ) 43 and under Provincial Jurisdiction. As the fire hazard within the balance of Municipal District is the same as FCZ 43 the Municipal District of Bonnyville No.87 has issued this fire ban to ensure the safety of all residence of the MD.
Prohibited
• All open fires, including wood campfires, charcoal briquette fires, turkey fryers, and tiki torches
• The use of incendiary targets
• The discharge of fireworks
Allowed
• Gas or propane stoves/barbeques and portable propane fire pits that are CSA approved and UL certified
• Propane barbeques and stoves
• Catalytic or infrared style heaters
• Fires contained in industrial facilities or on industrial sites as approved by a forest officer
As per M.D. of Bonnyville Fire Bylaw No. 1522 any person burning or discharging fireworks in contravention of this fire ban may be liable to a fine and for the total cost of any type of emergency response and mitigation service required to bring a fire under control.
