The Cold Lake Marina is expected to open berths on May 15. “The City’s standard practice was to leave the docks in over the winter,” said Recreation Manager Jim Fedyk. “But we removed them this winter so that needed repairs could be completed. This also allowed us to create shinny rinks within the break water.”

Each year, the marina’s first day of operations is dependent on the status of the ice on the lake and the condition of the Marina itself. This year, the opening will also depend on the dock repairs being finished on schedule. A warm spring and early thaw allowed City staff to inspect for any damages and aim for a mid-May opening. As it stands, repairs are on schedule.

In total, 15 slips were not renewed this year, meaning 15 people came off from the waiting list to receive a spot.

The Marina Office and Fuel Service will be available starting May 15 as well. For more information on Marina operations, contact the Cold Lake Energy Centre at 780-639-6400 or via email at energycentre@coldlake.com.
