Wear Red April 12 to Honour Fallen RCMP Member
On April 12th the Bonnyville RCMP, along with Victim Services, are hosting a mock collision. The exercise will be presented in front of local grade ten high school students. Constable Laura Carrol with the Detachment says the event falls on the same day as the funeral for fallen RCMP member, Constable Sarah Beckett.
“Bonnyville Victim Services would just like to inform you that they will be encouraging attending students who wish to show support for the RCMP to join them in wearing red that day. ” Cst. Beckett died as a result of a collision in Langford, British Columbia. Considering the Mock Collision is designed to raise awareness of the dangers involved in driving and aimed at early drivers, Grade 10 students, it seemed fitting to honour Cst. Beckett by donning red clothing, explains Cst. Carrol. “The death of Cst. BECKETT was the result of a collision and Victim Services hopes to take time to recognize her during the day.”
The Mock Collision will be held at the Centennial Centre from 9am – 3pm. The day will include a number of speakers and presentations, as well as a mock collision and honouring of Cst. Sarah Beckett.
