Cross Arrested for the 3rd Time Since Vandalizing Mosque
William Paul Cross, the 19 year old who plead guilty to the vandalism of the Cold Lake Mosque in November, has been arrested for the third time since the mosque incident. S/Sgt. Jeremie Landry says Cross has been remanded into custody and will remain there until his next court appearance on April 13th.
On March 19th, at 3:15 am, Cold Lake RCMP responded to a disturbance in Cold Lake South. RCMP arrived and attempted to arrest Cross for failing to comply with a probation order, for consuming alcohol. The order was placed on Cross in relation to the vandalism of the mosque guilty plea, where Cross was given 9 months probation.
S/Sgt Landry says Cross allegedly, “assaulted a police officer for spitting in [the officer’s] face.” Cross has been charged with one count of assaulting a police officer and one count of failing to comply with a probation order. “There was a remand hearing and Cross has been remanded into custody. He had his first court appearance yesterday, at Cold Lake Provincial Court. He will be remanded until his next court date on April 13th t 10:00 am, in Cold Lake.”
Cross is considered well-known to police and since the mosque vandalizing has been arrested three times, twice over a two-day period in February and this current incident.
