St. Paul Education in Search of a New Motto
St. Paul Education Regional Division (SPERD) is searching for a new motto and are calling on students, teachers, staff, and community members, past or present, to help create the new phrase. To keep the contest exciting, the winner will receive 64GB iPAD, reports SPERD Board Chair, Heather Starosielski.
“The last time the Board updated the motto was 20 years ago,” Starosielski explains that the motto has been reviewed since then, just no changed were made. The Board feels it’s time to freshen it up and wants to open that to the public to best represent the communities the Board serves. The current motto is: “Providing for cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity.”
In April 2015, the Board invited community members to participate in a community consultation to update the Division Vision and Mission Statements. It was 20 years since these Statements had been reviewed. Stemming from this consultation, SPERD decided to update their motto.
