The Bonnyville RCMP have noticed a high percentage of vehicles within our community with equipment violations, including mud flaps, tint and coloured lights on vehicles. Violation tickets for these offences can range from to over 0 per offence along with the expectation that the equipment regulation issue be rectified.
Mud flaps must cover the width of the tire and must reach at least down to the center of the tire. After- factory tint applied to the front driver’s side or passenger side windows, even if applied by a professional business, is in contravention of the provincial regulations and must be removed. Vehicle lights should all be in working order and should not be any colour other than factory standards. Mufflers should not be modified to produce extra/ excessive noise.
The Bonnyville RCMP will be focusing on these equipment related violations in December and the New Year and encourage motorists who currently have an equipment violation such as excessive muffler noise, tint or burnt out headlights to be pro-active and have the issue repaired before potentially being pulled over by the police.
