Renegades are Provincial Champs
The Bonnyville Peewee Renegades are the Alberta Provincial Peewee Champions after winning on Walsh Field on Saturday. The team accomplished something no other football club in Bonnyville has been able to do yet, capture a Provincial title at home.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Kevin Sartain the Renegades have excelled since their debut season in 2013. The team has made it to the Lloyd Football League’s Championship match since their initial season. That season the club fell short in the Championship game, but made up for it the following year in 2014 with a win.The club placed second in Provincials, but learned a lot from the match.
This season the Renegades lost only one battle, the first game of the season. The lost ended up being the determining factor as to whether or not the club would host League Championships, something Coach Sartain has had his eye on for all three seasons. He’ll have to wait another year, as the team traveled to Lloyd and beat the team they lost that first battle of the season to, the Colts.
With consecutive League Championship titles under their belts the club welcomed the Red Deer Steelers to town on Saturday afternoon, and won a hard fought battle 40-30
From the first whistle, to the last, we shall never give into the evil that is weakness! We will fight that evil with our dying breath! The Bonnyville Renegades stormed into battle on the sacred ground, we call Walsh Field. In the end raised their hands victorious! Bonnyville Renegades are Provincial Champions! – Head Coach Kevin Sartain
