Bid for World Jr A Challenge Advances
Bonnyville’s bid to host the World Jr. A Challenge has advanced to the second round. Committee member and voice of the Bonnyville Pontiacs, Robb Hunter says this is very promising.
“We made it through to round two, they took our initial bid, and we’ve been asked some follow-up questions,” Hunter says the committee has submitted the answers to the questions, which he could divulge too much information on. “They seemed like reasonable questions and we were able to respond, so it’s promising.”
Hunter explains the committee has been kept in the dark about who the other bidders are, if there is any others, and how many there are. Hunter jokes that he’s done a little detective work to ease his curiosity, to no avail unfortunately, “I’ve done some random google searching, just to see if any other local newspapers have thrown something up about.”
Ultimately, it doesn’t matter which other communities may be bidding, Hunter feels the committee and the community put forward the best bid possible.
The committee is fairly confident with their bid and is preparing for the event with fundraising underway. The Pontiacs are hosting a raffle for a pair of tickets to the Oilers game on the 23rd versus The Washington Capitals. Tickets are $20 and only 100 tickets will be sold through the Pontiacs office, 780-826-2895 or call Robb Hunter 780-826-8785.
You can also purchase tickets this weekend at the home Pontiacs games on Friday & Saturday. Both games start at 7:30pm.
