New ranks have been awarded to some members of the County Fire Service.
“In the Fire Service we have so much transition, as people come into the halls and leave, or as their lives change with kids and job commitments,” said Kirk Hughes, County Fire Chief.
On April 6, during the Chief Officer’s meeting, Hughes was pleased to make official the following promotions within the ranks of the County Fire Service.
John McGerrigle – promoted from Captain to Deputy Fire Chief
Tim Van Staden – appointed to the role of Training Officer
Austin Armitage – promoted to Captain
Rachel Mathias – appointed to the role of Safety Officer
Josh Anderson – promoted from Deputy Fire Chief to Fire Chief
Brent Farrell – promoted from Captain to Deputy Fire Chief
Jason McPhee – promoted to Captain
Carey Grant – promoted to Captain and appointed to the role of Training Officer
Lyndon Davies – promoted from Captain to Deputy Fire Chief
Kyle Bergquist – promoted to Captain
Thomas Hartwell – promoted from Captain to Deputy Fire Chief
Christopher Garner – appointed to the role of Deputy Director of Emergency Management
“We are fortunate that we have such a strong base of firefighters that choose to step up and take on my responsibility for their communities,” Hughes told Lakeland Connect. “The County thanks all for stepping up and into their new roles, and we tip our hats to those that have served the County in those positions in the past. We will honour them at the Firefighter’s Ball scheduled for later this year. Congratulations.”
