One person dies in house fire in Vegreville

One person died over the weekend in a house fire in Vegreville.

On Saturday, April 2, at 1:10 a.m., the Vegreville RCMP received a report of a house fire on 49 avenue in Vegreville.

Upon arrival, police located two house occupants outside the residence. Emergency crews were able to extinguish the blaze however one deceased person was located inside. The two surviving occupants were transported by EMS to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The residence is being held while fire investigators work with the RCMP, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine a cause of death and fire.

The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
