There is a Covid-19 outbreak at the City of Cold Lake Healthcare Centre-Auxiliary

According to Jason Maloney who is the Assistant Communications Director, for Alberta Health Communications and Public Engagement Government of Alberta, “There are currently 27 total cases (17 active, ten recovered) at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre-Auxiliary.”

Kerry Williamson who is an Alberta Health Services (AHS) spokesperson says “The outbreak affects the Long Term Care unit and is being managed through outbreak control measures that include isolation and treatment in designated rooms.”

“All at-risk patients on each unit have been tested,” Williamson told Lakeland Connect. “Rigorous Infection Prevention and Control is in place, with all healthcare workers self-assessing for COVID-19 symptoms and frontline teams using continuous masking and diligent hand hygiene practices while at work.”

Williamson says visitation restrictions are in place to minimize the risk of transmission to and from outside of the hospital.

“Designated support persons and visitors will be asked to follow appropriate measures,” Williamson concluded.
