St. Paul RCMP investigate child found wandering on highway

On January. 18, at approximately 9:30 a.m., St. Paul RCMP received a report of child that had been found wandering on Highway 881 near Township Road 582. A concerned motorist had found the child and brought the child to the RCMP detachment.

The St. Paul RCMP have initiated an investigation into this incident.  As this is an ongoing investigation no further information is available at this time.

The St. Paul RCMP continue to investigate this incident and are asking anyone with dash cam footage on Jan.18, 2022 between 8:45 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., in the area of Highway 811 and Township Road 582 to please contact St. Paul RCMP at 780-645-8870 or your local police.

Lakeland Connect received a statement from SPRED concerning the child left on the bus. We also spoke with his grandmother as she expressed her frustration and fear with St. Paul Education.

The good Samaritan who picked the child up has been found thanks to a Lakeland Connect viewer and we are hoping to arrange a meeting between the grandmother and him soon so she can say thank you in person for keeping her family safe.
