Pair arrested for outstanding warrants during traffic stop in Bonnyville, Driver impaired
Two people were arrested for outstanding warrants and another was charged for impaired by the Mounties in Bonnyville during a recent traffic stop.
According to the weekly update provided by Staff Sgt. Sarah Parke of the Bonnyville RCMP, “On January 13, the Bonnyville RCMP were on patrol on 49 Avenue in Bonnyville and initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle.”
Staff Sgt. Sarah Parke says the driver was deemed to be suspended.
“A Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) demand was made resulting in the driver providing a failed sample,” Staff Sgt. Parke said. “The 20-year-old male from Bonnyville was issued Provincial Sanctions for Impaired Driving and the vehicle was seized.”
He was also charged with Driving While Unauthorized and Driving an Uninsured vehicle.
“The 29-year-old male passenger from Frog Lake was found to be on Warrants and lied about his identity,” Staff Sgt. Parke said.
He was arrested and charged with Obstruction and brought before a Justice of the Peace who released him with no Conditions to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on February 15.
“A second passenger, a 21-year-old female from Frog Lake was also found to be on Warrants,” Staff Sgt. Parke said.
She was arrested on those warrants and released to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on February 9 for those matters.
“She was not charged with anything relating to this traffic stop,” Staff Sgt. Parke concluded.
