Yaks forward Alex Power named AJHL Rookie of the Week

It’s been a big week for Bonnyville Pontiacs forward Alex Power.

Just after announcing his athletic scholarship to Quinnipiac University, the St. John’s, Newfoundland native was named the AJHL Inter-Pipeline Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.

Still considered a league rookie after playing only 15 games in the abbreviated 2020-21 season, Power earned game star honours in two of last week’s Pontiacs outings. He scored a pair of goals against the Whitecourt Wolverines and Olds Grizzlys, and has been a tear lately, with 11 goals in his last 11 games.
