Hope for Hudson steak night fundraiser being held Monday in Bonnyville

An event to raise money for a child who is battling a rare cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma is being held Monday night in Bonnyville at The Players Lounge.

All the proceeds from this evening will go to the Mutimer family who began this journey in November 2019.

Blaise Hunter is one of the event organizers and is issuing a call to arms to the Lakeland community.

“Come celebrate Hudson Mutimer’s 11th birthday with a steak night fundraiser at The Players Lounge Monday, November 8,” Hunter told Lakeland Connect. “Reid and Lesley Ann Etter are putting on this event for their nephew who is battling a rare childhood cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma.”

Hunter says Hudson is a bright boy who loves hockey, hunting, fishing, and playing video games with his friends. His parents Haley and Wade Mutimer have not been able to work due to endless rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Hudson has bravely battled through every obstacle he has been faced with and now we are raising funds for some experimental drugs as the current treatment plan has not been successful.

“The Etters are always the first people to help someone in need and now it’s our turn to return the favour,” states Hunter.” “Their nephew is battling serious challenges and we encourage the community to band together and support the Hope for Hudson event on November 8th. When we are in tough times we need to rally together.”

The event will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and tickets are $30. Tickets are available via cash only at Thinkwerx and Pharmasave.

‘Please join us for this fundraiser to support this amazing family as they continue to overcome insurmountable obstacles,” Hunter added. “If you can’t attend the Steak Night Fundraiser, people can also donate online by etransferring to [email protected]

Donations will be accepted until November 12 and there will also be a silent auction held.

“Since this is a community driven fundraiser, charitable tax receipts cannot be issued,’ Hunter told Lakeland Connect. “Thank you to everyone who has stepped up and continues to show up for this cause! Let’s bring Hope for Hudson and show how our community pulls together.”

For more information you can contact Lesley Ann Etter 780-545-4048 or Julie Hutchison 639-840-3408 for silent auction items or tickets

Let’s help this family in need.
