Armed robbery warrant leads to police pursuit and arrests
Lac La Biche RCMP took three males into custody following a pursuit, tire deflation device deployment, and a rammed police vehicle, police said on Wednesday.
At 1:00 p.m. on Feb. 21, Lac La Biche RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, along with the assistance of the Lac La Biche RCMP and St. Paul Police Dog Service attended a residence in Kikino to arrest a male wanted for armed robbery out of Boyle.
As police approached the house, police say the male fled in a vehicle with two other occupants. Police located and attempted to stop the vehicle on Range Road 130 near Highway 28 in Smoky Lake, where it rammed a police vehicle to avoid a tire deflation device.
RCMP said they initiated a pursuit and the vehicle rammed the police vehicle again to avoid a second tire deflation device.
The vehicle lost control on Range Road 131A and Township Road 630 in Lac La Biche, Alta. and went into the ditch. Police arrested the three males without further incident.
Rory Allan Cardinal, 30, of Lac La Biche, was arrested for the outstanding armed robbery warrant.
Cardinal was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Boyle Provincial Court on March 9.
Damion Troy Quintal, 36, of Anzac, Alta. was charged with ten offences some of which include;
- Dangerous operation of a vehicle
- Assault with a weapon on a police officer (x2)
- Fail to comply with release order (x2)
Quintal has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on March 8, 2021.
A third male was released without charges and was not named by RCMP.
