M.D.’s business plans get praise from North American agency

A local municipality has recognized by a North American agency for their work for the 2020 budget.

The Municipal District of Bonnyville’s Finance Department has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada.

The award is in recognition of the M.D.’s Budget & Business Plan 2020, which can be found here.

The document outlines the budget, the budget process, the strategic plan, and the municipality’s plan for the future.

“The award represents a significant achievement,” according to the GFOA. “It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of  governmental budgeting.”

General Manager of Corporate Services, Tolulope Maraiyesa, is honoured to receive the award. The Finance Department is under the Corporate Services umbrella.

“It is the first year the M.D. has submitted a budget for consideration in the GFOA awards,” she said. “Thanks to the hard work and dedication by all of the M.D. staff involved in the creation of this document, we have shown our commitment to communicating with our residents and presenting our budget and business plan in a clear, concise manner.”

The M.D. is currently working on the Budget & Business Plan 2021.

Once it has been completed, a digital copy will be available on the M.D.’s website (www.md.bonnyville.ab.ca).
