Second case of COVID-19 in Cold Lake provincial data shows

The Government of Alberta’s COVID-19 location map shows a second case of COVID-19 in the Cold Lake area on Saturday.

Four cases of the virus have been confirmed in the Bonnyville area and the Vermilion River County area has two confirmed cases.

The province announced 79 new cases on Saturday, the largest single-day increase, bringing the total in Alberta to 621.

The North Zone, which extends just north of Edmonton to the provincial border, saw an increase on Saturday of 13 new cases for a total of 43.

There have been 38 hospitalizations with 12 admitted into intensive care.

Up to 54 cases may be due to community spread.

Twenty cases have been identified at Calgary’s McKenzie Towne Long Term Care.

Of the 621 cases, 53 people have recovered from COVID-19.

  • Calgary Zone: 378 cases
  • Edmonton Zone: 139 cases
  • Central Zone: 48 cases
  • North Zone: 43 cases
  • South Zone: 12 cases

On Friday, the Alberta Government announced tighter measures on public gatherings to a maximum of 15 people while forcing certain non-essential businesses to close.

Renters have also been given reassurance for the time being with Premier Jason Kenney announcing yesterday that those who can’t pay their rent during the state of public health emergency will not be kicked out by their landlords.
