Bonnyville RCMP investigating online child luring case

Bonnyville RCMP is investigating a situation of child luring online.

A concerned mother contacted the police on Tuesday that someone was attempting to lure her child to turn on their webcam through their PlayStation 4.

RCMP said they are in the beginning stages of their investigation, which is a “high priority.”

“It happened in our area and now parents need to be ultra-cognizant of checking and having that talk with their children that they – they all talk with strangers online – but have a talk about webcams and what’s not appropriate,” said Sgt. Kim Hillier.

The Integrated Child Exploitation Unit in Edmonton has been notified and will be working the police on this case.
