Elk Point RCMP arrest male after suspicious vehicle reported

“A call from a passerby led to this arrest,” says Sergeant David Henry, Elk Point Detachment Commander. “We appreciate the tips from the community and will continue to follow up on them promptly.”

On Jan. 28, 2020 at approximately 4:30 a.m., Elk Point RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in Fishing Lake.

Officers responded and located a car matching the description provided by the caller.

A male was inside the vehicle sleeping. Items that could be used as weapons were visible in the vehicle.

The male was woken up and arrested without incident as police determined the car was not insured or registered.

Further investigation revealed the male was prohibited from driving and possessing weapons. An axe and two knives were seized along with what is believed to be a small amount of methamphetamine.
