Sr. Pontiacs begin first round of playoffs this weekend

The Bonnyville Sr. Pontiacs have snuck into the playoffs.

Although they lost handily in their two final games, the Pontiacs got to see two of the best teams in the North Central Hockey League ahead of their meeting with the top place Morinville Kings.

“You get to hit the reset button on a weekend like this and come with a whole new mindset mentality next weekend. It’s a whole new season,” said Sr. Pontiacs coach Corey Wandler.

“Managing the puck and paying attention to small, finer details of the game, especially against experienced teams that got high calibre players, you gotta, you got to know what you’re doing every shift and where you got to be away from the puck and stuff like that. We totally got away from everything, these last two games,” he said.

Bonnyville hosts Morinville on Sunday for Game 2 at 3:00pm after the best-of-five first round of playoffs get going this weekend.
