Six people taken into custody; one at large

Cold Lake RCMP and their General Investigative Section (GIS) executed a search at the residence located in the Rural MD of Bonnyville. A total of six people were taken into custody, some were released without charges. Police seized firearms, prohibited devices, ammunition, drugs, a stolen motorcycle and a stolen ATV.

John Cook (25) was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of MDMA [Ecstasy]
  • Possession GHB
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle while prohibited

He was released after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Cold Lake Provincial Court on September 25, 2019.

Kevin Drake (56) was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 (x2)

Gerid Stanley Laroque (36) was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (x3)
  • Possession of firearm/prohibited weapon while unauthorized (x5)
  • Weapon possession contrary to surrender authorization (x6)
  • Unsafe Storage (x3)

Derek Drake (30) was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 (x2)

He is still at large on outstanding warrants.  The Cold Lake RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Derek Drake.

Corporal Marie-Eve Mackenzie-Plante says “although our members had a busy weekend, this is another example of strength of will and coming together to ensure the safety of the public. I am proud of this group of officers”.
