Local Photographer gains National Attention

Cold Lake Photographer, Susie O’Connor has received national recognition from the Professional Photographers of Canada-Alberta (PPOC-AB). O’Connor, who owns Images Studios in Cold Lake, won the coveted title of Alberta’s Portrait Photographer of the Year.

“This is the first year I have qualified for the competition and the first time that I’ve won,” exclaimed O’Connor following the annual Awards Banquet of the PPOC-AB, held in Edmonton, on October 20, 2018.

Winning Images

O’Connor had four images accepted and exhibited in the Provincial Image Competition. Acceptance into the Image Competition is an indication of the maker’s ability to produce outstanding images for their clientele.

“All four images are entered as a portfolio,” explained O’Connor. With the four images she is the title holder of Alberta’s Portrait Photographer of the Year at the Professional Photographers of Canada Alberta Regions 2018 annual competition. As well, her image “Dance for Me” in the Fine Art class won the prestigious Best in Class award.

PPOC-AB is a voluntary organization and along with six other constituent member associations, was a founding member and is affiliated with the national body – the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC).

This year’s competition received professional entries from all over Alberta as well as other parts of Canada. Judging took place in Edmonton, Alberta by a selected panel of qualified Craftsman and Master Photographers.
