Fatal two vehicle collision outside Pierceland

One person has died following a rollover near Pierceland involving a stolen truck.

At approximately 7:50 a.m. on October 18, 2018, Pierceland RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of township road #623 and range road #3254 in the RM of Beaver River.

Initial investigation has determined that a pickup truck heading westbound and a school bus heading northbound collided. This resulted in both the pickup truck and bus ending up in the ditch of the northwest corner of the intersection, with the truck on its wheels and the bus on its side.

The adult male driver of the pickup truck was declared deceased on scene. The adult female passenger of the truck was transported to hospital with what are described as serious injuries. No other injuries were reported. There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the collision. The involved truck had been reported stolen out of Cold Lake, AB.

The collision continues to be under investigation with the assistance of an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist. The intersection was blocked off for a period of time as part of the investigation.
