Public Warned to Stay Away from Intersection HWY 881 & 29

UPDATE #2 March 1 9:14 am

On February 29, 2016 at approx 4:45 pm RCMP responded to a call for assistance as a Bailiff who had attended a residence to retrieve a vehicle was confronted with an armed male. A gun shot was heard from this location. The Edmonton Emergency Response Team, Crisis Negotiation, EDU, PDS, Air Services all assisted St Paul RCMP members to resolve this issue peacefully at around midnight.

A lone male was taken into custody without incident. Nobody was injured. Charges are pending. The investigation is ongoing.

 

UPDATE #1 February 29th 11:35 pm

A spokesperson for the RCMP reports that an armed man was barricaded inside his home at an intersection of highways 881 and 29. The man was refusing to co-operate with police.

Police said no shots had been fired and no injuries were reported.

 

BACKGROUND 

Police are asking the public to stay away from the intersection of Hwy 881 and Hwy 29 coming in to St Paul due to a firearm complaint. This is a safety advisory for anyone in that area to avoid going near this location.
